WHO AM I COMPETITION
As a post World Cup event activity, we are running a WHO AM I competition, featuring some of our local gymnasts alongside some Super Star Gymnasts. It’s pretty simple really, name the athletes in the photos, local and international stars, then send your responses to be in the draw. There are 5 prizes to be won!
Competition closes Monday 9th March, so don’t wait too long to enter!
Thank you to Laura for providing us with these great shots.

FACILITY WORKS UPDATE
Exciting to be able to see site works happening at our new facility. Foundations are being prepared for the walls to go up very shortly.
We have had some delays as we are now required to have a “lift/elevator” for extra access to the first floor, this needed to be included in the designs.
DON ELECTED CHAIRPERSON FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS BALLARAT
On Tuesday night Ballarat Gymsports’ Don Pennell was elected as the new Chairperson for the Special Olympics Australia – Ballarat Committee. The role overseas 6 sports here in the Ballarat region.
Don said “I’m very honoured to take over the helm from our outgoing Chairperson Michelle Graffeo who has been an amazing leader for the group over the past 12months. During her time Michelle has led by example and put in place structures that will see many good things coming to fruition in the coming years. I step in to some pretty big shoes and hope to be able to help athletes, coaches and families enjoy sports under the Special Olympics banner.”
WAG TECHNICAL INFORMATION DAY
Gymnastics Victoria conducted its WAG Technical Update session, AGM and Level 3 – 6 Judges update session today at Melbourne Polytechnic. Stacey attended the Technical Info session and I attended all 3 sessions. We came away with some very valuable information as there have been many changes which will impact the major core group of girls we have training.
We also now have access to the new routines in both written and video format which are correct and before those clubs that did not have any one attend. This information will be made available to our WAG coaches and some of it will also be made available to gymnasts via their portal access.
NEW FACILITY PROGRESS UPDATE
We meet with Simon our Facility Developer and Builder this afternoon and went through a progress report and QA around timings and designs. We are still on track for a Term 2 start date with ground works occurring today. The walls and steel work are all in build and our modifications to the layout were accepted and being included.
This has been a long way from where we started with a concept 12 months ago to get to this stage and progress, to which we thank all our fantastic parents and athletes for supporting us in this huge undertaking. Keep an eye out for more updates in the coming weeks along with photos.
NEW CERTIFICATES FOR GYMSTAR
We have just released our NEW GymStar certificates for levels 1 to 3. Levels 4 & 5 are coming soon.
These postcard sized certificates feature all the skills required for the GymStar level being attained and are in conjunction with parents being able to follow their gymnasts progress through the Parental Portal.
We will also be releasing similar certificates for our Cheerleading, FreeG, Trampolining and Under 5’s members in the coming weeks.
ARE YOU READY TO FLY IN 2020
Our coaches are pumped, our staff are at the ready and our new facility is on the way… all we need now is you to make Ballarat Gymsports the best place to be in 2020.
Make sure you have booked in for your session as with some changes we would hate you to miss out on a spot or turn up late and miss some of the great stuff we have awaiting you.
