This week we have been receiving updates from Gymnastics Victoria’s CEO  re the Novel Coronavirus. These messages have been sent to every club in the state to help assist us in dealing with any concerns or questions. The following information is printed here for all our parents advice…

“… the Victorian Government and Department of Education have provided updated information overnight regarding Novel Coronavirus for schools (we recommend your club follows the information provided by the Department of Education).

“The Commonwealth’s Chief Medical Officer and Victoria’s Chief Health Officer have this afternoon recommended a stronger precautionary approach to managing coronavirus for travellers returned from Hubei province.”

This recommendation is that parents/guardians/carers should ensure that any returning person is isolated at home and should not attend gymnastics clubs for 14 days:

following exposure to any confirmed novel coronavirus case;
or after leaving Hubei Province.

This same advice applies to any staff who have returned or are returning from Hubei province.

Parents and Athletes are reminded yet again, that direct contact with coaches via any social media or phone channels is NOT permitted under not only our club policies but also highly discouraged under GA/GV/Government policies. The club does not look favourably on this practice as it places both the coach and the club in in potential conflicts and breaches of Child Protection policies in place.

During 2020 the club will be closely monitoring and where repeated incidents occur, disciplinary action may be taken against the coach and the offenders.

The club offers ample correct and approved channels and opportunities for communication, please do the right thing by not placing our coaches, staff and your family in a position that may be questioned by authorities.

Gymnastics Victoria CEO, Jamie Parsons, has released a statement today regarding the affects of the poor quality of air currently being experienced in Victoria and Gymnastics training. The statement acknowledges the AIS, EPA, BOM and HR consultants HR PLus. In the statement GV have outlined training changes in line with the “Air Quality Index” readings and advised clubs to act accordingly also.

Ballarat Gymsports has immediately implemented these recommendations with the health and well-being at the forefront of our participants, staff and their families. As there is no monitoring station here in Ballarat, we will be using that advised by the EPA of the Melton readings.

“In line with the arrangements at Gymnastics Victoria where they have made a determination that any GV-organised activities at the State Gymnastics Centre will continue where the Air Quality Index outside remains below 177, between 177 and 200 modified training may be implemented and above 200 athlete activities will cease, Ballarat Gymsports will also enforce these same measures at their training venue and also include staff in the determination.”

Credit Card capability release…. After lots of research and investigation, we have now

introduced the ability for payment online using Credit Cards. The option will be of great benefit to the club to assist in easier management of accounts and payments, plus make it easier for those wanting to pay at the time of enrollment or booking an event.

Heather in Accounts has been working with Integrapay and Safe Payments to ensure we have a seamless and secure integration with our Jackrabbit Class Management system.
